"This pattern is from a silk embroidery - a hanging curtain called the parokhet, traditionally used in Jewish culture to conceal the Torah scrolls. The original was an embroidery of silver thread on magenta cloth. It is adapted here by the artist for both the black granite and white glass medium displayed in this exhibit." |
