The photograph that informed our renovation designs, One North Square, the home of Crosstown, pictured in 1890, courtesy of Professor Anthony V. Riccio, from his book, Portrait of an Italian-American Neighborhood: The North End of Boston , (The Center for Migration Studies of New York, Inc. NY, 1998.)

Crosstown's Architectural Legacy.

This section documents the architectural development of Crosstown.com's home.

Crosstown's gallery and studio is located at One North Square, opposite the Paul Revere House, on Boston's historic Freedom Trail.

My father, G.F. Carella, (b. 1929- d.2009) Architectural Design Engineer, and I  dedicated almost 2 years to the restoration of the space for the Crosstown Art Gallery. (The grand opening of the gallery was on 20 May 2000.)

The photograph at the left shows the 100 year old appearance of One North Square. After many months of searching through city archives and historical societies, I found this picture in Professor Anthony Riccio's book, Portrait of an Italian-American Neighborhood: The North End of Boston.

Professor Riccio has been kind enough to allow its use on this web site.
